Honey - a deck of playing cards

During my studies at RMIT, one of our assessments was creating a physical product from the conceptual ideas all the way to a "printed"
proof of concept.

I went with a deck of cards, and was really into bees and how helpful they are to the environment but that they seem to be.

THE CHALLENGE

Some of the biggest challenges I found was how should I layout out the number cards so that they were easily readable, and
recognisable. I wasn't sure if replacing all the icons with bees would work or not.

It did not work!

The other issues I had was whether the icons I had developed would be easy enough for users to use. After many iterations, I feel theyare now are easy and clear for people to use.

ABOUT THE DECK

A lot of people asked “Why did you use a wasp for the Jack card?”  I tell them that through my research into the original invention of playing cards before they even used letters and numbers the jack card was called the ‘knave’ which translated to "boy or young man".

Knave became a derogatory word because so many of these Knaves went roaming around the streets picking fights, molesting girls and making nuisances of themselves.  So, I felt a wasp being an intruder to the hive would be fitting for this.
